Edgewater Christmas Giving Tree

From Police Chief John Hough:

Members of the Edgewater Police Department are joining with the Edgewater Optimist Club in the 2013 Christmas Giving Tree event to raise donations that will be used to purchase gifts for less fortunate children in our Edgewater community this holiday season. Monetary donations will be collected at the Edgewater Police Department at 5901 W. 25th Avenue and at the Edgewater Coffee Company at 5224 W. 25th Avenue. If you would like to contribute a gift instead of a monetary donation, you can select from the Christmas Giving Tree, purchase a gift and bring the gift to the Edgewater City Hall at 2401 S. Sheridan Boulevard by 5:00 PM on Monday, December 16, 2013.

We need your help to make Christmas 2013 an even more special holiday season for less fortunate children in Edgewater. The Edgewater Optimist Club members try to match the age and gender of each child with a gift similar to what their friends will receive. For many children, this event is the first time they will receive a gift just for them. This event is an opportunity for less fortunate children to feel just as important as other children who are more fortunate. Many times the mothers and fathers of these children who come to pick up the gifts have tears in their eyes because they realize what these gifts mean to their children. Each and every child is a special and unique story, a story of excitement and appreciation when they receive their gifts.
