If you have a five or six year old, the time you have been dreading is soon approaching. We get excited for our children going off to kindergarten, but it is also very hard dropping them off on their first day of school. Tears are easy to find on the first day of kindergarten.
One of the beautiful things about a small town like Edgewater are schools within walking distance of our homes. Within the city limits of Edgewater, we have two elementary schools that house students PreK-6th grade.
Jeffco Schools allows residents to choose where they send their children to school if there are openings. You can also choose to enroll your child in your neighborhood school. If you live east of Jay Street in Edgewater, then Edgewater Elementary is your neighborhood school (see map). If you live west of Jay Street, then Lumberg Elementary is your neighborhood school (see map).
Edgewater and Lumberg both offer free, full-day kindergarten and offer a variety of different programming options for children.
The best way to see a school and decide if it is the right place for your child is to take a tour. Contact the school’s main office to schedule a tour and see what the school is like when school is in session. Ask around the neighborhood and talk to parents whose children attend the school you are looking at.
In Jeffco Schools, Kindergarten Registration runs from January 20, 2015 – January 26, 2015 for the 2015-16 school year.
