Edgewater Police Report: June 15, 2015

From Edgewater Police Chief John Hough:

Sometime between 6:00 PM on June 7, 2015 and 9:00 AM on June 8, 2015, three unlocked vehicles were entered in the 2000 block of Otis Street. Property was stolen from only one of the vehicles, all of which were parked on the street in front of the victim’s residence.

On June 8, 2015, at about 1:15 AM, an officer working state grant funded DUI enforcement noticed a vehicle weaving in the 2500-1700 blocks of Sheridan Boulevard. When the officer contacted the driver, a 45-year-old male resident of Denver, he was arrested and issued a Jefferson County Court summons for failing to operate his vehicle in a single lane of traffic (weaving), operating a vehicle without a driver’s license and DUI.

Sometime between 5:00 PM on June 12, 2015 and 11:50 AM on June 13, 2015 a 1993 purple Cadillac was stolen from a parking lot in the 2600 block of Eaton Street.

On June 13, 2015, at about 4:25 PM, a bicycle was stolen from the roof rack of a vehicle parked at the King Soopers parking lot at 1725 Sheridan Boulevard.

On June 14, 2015, at about 12:10 AM, officers responded to a residence in the 2400 block of Benton Street regarding a homeowner who noticed a male suspect looking over his back fence. While enroute to the residence, one of the officers noticed a male in the area on a bicycle in the area, but he did not stop to contact the suspect at that time in order to respond more quickly to the residence. When the officers contacted the homeowner, they realized that the individual described by the homeowner closely resembled the individual on the bicycle. The officers were able to locate the individual on the bicycle. Their investigation resulted in the arrest of the suspect, a 36-year-old male resident of Denver, for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and two bicycle violations. The suspect was not arrested for trespassing because the homeowner could not be certain that he was the correct suspect. The suspect was transported to Jefferson County Jail.
