Edgewater Police Report: October 19, 2015

From Edgewater Police Chief John Mackey:

On October 18, 2015 at 2:15 PM Edgewater Officers responded to the 2800 block of Harlan Street on a report of a suspicious vehicle. Residents had observed a male party park a blue Honda Civic on the street and then leave the area in a white SUV. The vehicle was found to be an active steal out of Denver, and it was subsequently returned to the owner.

On October 14, 2015 at about 8 PM Edgewater Officers responded to Taco Bell, 1911 Sheridan Blvd on a possible drug deal involving a Chrysler Sebring vehicle. The Chrysler had left the Taco Bell prior to officers arriving, although Officers were able to contact the vehicle in the 1700 block of Sheridan Blvd. Evidence of drug use and methamphetamine was located in the vehicle and three females were arrested for multiple drug violations and lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

On October 14, 2015 at about 12:30 AM Officers were dispatched to an unconscious party at W. 20th Avenue and Sheridan Blvd. After arriving on scene Officers were advised that the reporting party indicated that the correct address was in the 1900 block of Ingalls Street. Due to the severity of the report officers responded to the Lakewood address and found a female yelling in the middle of the street. The woman directed the officers to a nearby house, and upon entering found an unconscious 29 year old male who was unresponsive. Officers initiated and continued CPR until paramedics arrived, although their efforts were unsuccessful. Investigations continues by Lakewood PD.

On October 13, 2015 an Edgewater resident reported that his 1999 Black Subaru was stolen. The resident reported that his vehicle was taken between 10:30 PM on the 12th of October and 8:30 AM on the 13th. The vehicle had been left locked although a rear window had been missing and could have allowed entry into the vehicle.

On October 13, 2015 at about 7:00 AM Officers were monitoring traffic in the area of W. 20th Avenue and Depew Streets when a red Honda Civic was observed running the red light. Officers initially stopped the vehicle, although the driver fled while the officer was approaching the vehicle. Officers initiated a pursuit of the vehicle, although the suspect was traveling at a high rate of speed and officers quickly discontinued the pursuit. Officers subsequently identified the driver, an Edgewater resident, and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Case continues.

On October 12, 2015 at about 4:00 AM Edgewater Officers were notified by the Denver Police Department of a drug investigation that led them to the City of Edgewater and involved a resident of our city. Edgewater Officers subsequently assisted in an investigation in the 2600 block of Jay Street in which an Edgewater resident was arrested with a large amount of methamphetamine and heroin.

On October 11, 2015 at about 10:00 AM Edgewater Officers responded to the 1800 block of Depew Street on a disturbance involving a male and female. A 48 year old Edgewater male was arrested and subsequently lodged in the Jefferson County Jail on assault charges.

On October 10, 2015 at about 3 AM Edgewater Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 2300 block of Sheridan Blvd for traffic violations. A 27 year old Denver resident was subsequently arrested for DUI.

Edgewater Officers investigated two shoplifting incidents this past week and arrested a 19 year old Denver man and a 24 year old Denver man.

Edgewater Officers continue to investigate the Fast Pawn Robbery from earlier this month with several outside agencies as well as the ATF.
