From Edgewater Police Chief John Mackey:
On 12/30 Edgewater Officers responded to 1700 block of Sheridan Blvd on a Hit & Run Traffic Accident. The victim reported that a Chevrolet Pick Up driven by a female had backed into her Dodge Pick Up and fled the scene. The victim was able to take a picture of the fleeing vehicles license plate and provided it to Edgewater Officer Johnson. Officer Johnson subsequently followed up on the accident, located and identified the “run” driver and cited a 30 year old Edgewater female for the offense. Great job Officer Johnson!
On December 28, 2015 at about 11 PM Edgewater Officer’s received a report of a burglary and attempted auto theft in progress in the 2400 block of Kendall Street. As Officers from Edgewater, Mountain View and Lakeside arrived on scene they observed five persons running from the area in different directions. Officers conducted a collaborative search for the suspects and subsequently arrested three of the suspects. A 19 year old Denver male was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail and two male juveniles were lodged in the detention center for multiple charges. Great job Corporal Geerdes and Officer Johnson of the Edgewater Police Department, as well as Mountain View Officer Munoz and Lakeside Officer Kornowski! Investigation continues for the other suspects.
On December 28th Officers responded to the 2400 block of Lamar Street on a daytime residential burglary. The resident reported that his front door had been kicked in during the day and an unknown suspect stole some marijuana and two knives from the residence.
On December 26th shortly after midnight Edgewater Officers assisted Mountain View Officers on a traffic stop in the 4100 block of Sheridan Blvd involving a stolen vehicle. A 16 year old female Denver resident was taken into custody and lodged in the detention center.
Stolen Vehicles
Edgewater Officers responded to five auto thefts this reporting period, three of which were “puffers” – vehicles left running, open and unattended. Two of the vehicles were recovered within a day of the theft.
DUI’s
Edgewater Officers arrested 7 persons for DUI over this reporting period. The New Year started off very busy with 5 DUI’s, all after midnight including one traffic accident and two reckless driving DUI’s. Thank you to our officers who worked daily throughout the holiday season to take DUI offenders off of our roadways!
Edgewater Officers arrested multiple persons for shoplifting this period: 15 year old male Denver resident.
31 year old male Denver resident.
33 year old male Arvada resident.
35 year old male Denver resident.
Edgewater Officers performed traffic enforcement during the course of this reporting period and contacted several persons for expired plates, speeding, careless driving, registration violations, suspensions, denials and revocations.
Edgewater Officers additionally responded to calls involving disturbances, criminal mischief, and possession of controlled substances, multiple traffic accidents, trespasses, loose dogs, thefts, death investigations, mental health holds, unwanted persons, intoxicated persons, and multiple warrant arrests.
Edgewater Officers hosted three multi agency meetings as they continued their investigation of the Fast Cash Pawn Robbery alongside the ATF and FBI. Several additional leads were recovered and acted on this reporting period – case continues.
