Today we are spotlighting one of Edgewater’s newest business, Club Pilates. Club Pilates is located near Target at 1931 Sheridan Boulevard. You can visit their website here.
Here’s an interview with their owner, Jennifer Carlson.
How did you get involved in this business?
I was living in Carlsbad, CA and looking to try out Pilates on the equipment, but it was so expensive everywhere. Then I discovered Club Pilates. The affordable pricing drew me in initially, then the instructors, their challenging, yet fun classes hooked me. I was working as an accountant at a local company 6 days a week, 12-15 hours a day. I heard one of the instructors talking about their teacher training program. I decided to check it out and made the decision to become an instructor. I’ve always been into health and fitness, encouraging others to live a healthier lifestyle. Pilates is a form of exercise that any age and body can do and benefit from; whether you’re 18 or 81.
What drew you to open a business in Edgewater?
Edgewater is a quaint town surrounded by the city. I am from a town of similar size in Michigan. I love the community involvement and how welcoming the town is to everyone. The area is changing and growing in a good way; and we look forward to being a part of it. Plus, it helps that it is beautiful here by the lake.
What services/products do you offer?
We offer a variety of apparatus Pilates classes; classes utilizing many pieces of equipment. We have Reformers, Exo chairs, Springboards, Bosu, TRX, etc. We also have a private room where individuals who are not comfortable in a group setting or who want to expand their practice. Additionally, we offer semi-private sessions as it’s always better to workout with a friend! We also sell great fitness apparel to enhance any experience or perhaps reward those who work so hard!
What makes your business unique?
Club Pilates is unique in the fact it is for everybody. It’s affordable. We teach to take what you learn in class and incorporate it into your everyday life. Pilates is not just a workout, it’s a way of life.
