Lumberg Elementary School in Edgewater joined schools across the country in celebrating Read Across America. Local leaders from the surrounding community came and read Dr. Suess books to Lumberg classrooms to encourage and motivate students to read.  The Read Across America event is held each year on March 2 which is Dr. Suess’ birthday.

This year Edgewater Mayor Kris Teegardin was one of the visitors to Lumberg. Before reading, Teegardin took questions from the 4th grade students. They asked him if he was famous, if he was going to be the next president and asked who he was going to vote for, though he didn’t give them an answer on the last question. Then Teegardin read them a Dr. Suess book in Spanish.
