Auto Theft Arrest

On 11/6 at about 1 AM Officer Palmer was traveling southbound in the 1900 block of Sheridan Blvd when he observed a 1994 Red Honda which was listed as stolen out of the 1100 block of S. Tennyson St. in Denver.

As Officer Palmer followed the stolen Red Honda eastbound onto W. Colfax Avenue he was joined by Officer Brink.

The officers followed the vehicle to 14th and Raleigh Street where it ran through a stop sign and then turned onto southbound Raleigh Street which is a dead end. The Honda then turned eastbound at the end of the block into an alleyway, although the path was blocked by downed telephone poles and the Honda was forced to stop.

As both officers exited their vehicles to approach the driver, the Honda reversed at a high rate of speed at which point officers rejoined their vehicles just before the Honda rammed into the front end of Officer Palmer’s patrol vehicle.

The Honda then accelerated quickly forward attempting to ram through the telephone poles although the Honda became stuck on top of the poles.

The officers attempted to contact the suspects although they locked their doors at which point officers were forced to break the door window and take the suspects into custody.

Arrested for multiple charges involving the auto theft, reckless endangerment, assorted drug charges and multiple warrants including auto theft were a 26 year old Thornton male and a 39 year old Denver male.

Great job Officers Palmer and Brink!

Thank You Notes from Neighbors – Kudo’s

Today I spotted an unneutered male dog running loose down my alley. Luckily, I was able to confine it within my neighbor’s fenced-in backyard. I called the non-emergency police number, and immediately Officer Tristan Robenalt arrived to help. Officer Robenalt calming, yet assertively, took charge of the lost dog. He was happy to phone the owner who soon came by to pick up his lost dog. Officer Robenalt showed sincere respect in reuniting the owner with his lost dog. I am impressed with Officer Robenalt’ s compassion and strength of character. Later, Corporal Nesbitt joined Officer Robenalt, and the two officers introduced themselves to my dog who bathed in their admiration and appreciation of “man’s best friend.” I’m lucky to have met Officer Robenalt under these peaceable conditions, and I’m lucky to live in Edgewater, a community with true heart.

I locked the keys in my car last week in front of GB Fish and Chips. I observed an Edgewater Officer arresting someone across the street, but decided to contact the officer as I had left both my purse and cell phone in the car as well.

I contacted Corporal Nesbitt and immediately noticed how compassionate he was to both the gentleman he was arresting and to me in my time of need. Corporal Nesbitt worked with both the gentleman and I in a very respectful and kind manner and wanted you to know how much I appreciated his assistance!

On 11/12 at 2:30 AM Officer Young responded to our apartment complex on a suspicious odor. Officer Young quickly identified an apartment that had a strong odor coming from it and woke up the sleeping tenant who had left food burning on the stove. There are a lot of tenants living in our community with lots of children and a fire could have done a lot of major damage and/or even worse could have injured tenants. We are very grateful to Officer Young and believe he is such a wonderful addition to the Edgewater Police Department!

Thank you to our outstanding police volunteers, Frank Kyper, Lorenzo Rendon and Dave Suter for the countless hours they are contributing to making our community and city a safer place to live, work and play! Chief Mackey

Neighbor’s notes and “Kudo’s” are placed in the lobby of the police station and placed in the respective officer’s personnel files – thanks for sharing!
