From Edgewater Mayor Kristian Teegardin:

Hello Friends and Neighbors,

I hope all is well with you and your loved ones.  Below are some happenings that I would like to share with you.

Gold Crown/Heritage Center- After many setbacks with the building and unforeseen expenses, Gold Crown is now ready to fully proceed executing their plans to implement the Enrichment Program (HERE). Presently, they shall be open for business in August of 2017.

Peaks to Plains-The Peaks to Plains trail is a 65-mile corridor that follows Clear Creek from its headwaters at Loveland Pass all the way to the confluence with the South Platte River north of Denver.  This project is part of the Colorado the Beautiful initiative, as well as comprehensive plans to extend multi-modal projects throughout the metro region.  Please visit their website HERE for details.  I wanted to give a special shout out to our own County Commissioner Casey Tighe for his heavy involvement.  Tighe’s the Guy!

Transportation Ballot Measure 2017- Because the State budget is facing cuts this year, the State Legislature may bring forth a ballot measure for transportation funding. This measure will affect the entire state, and I am hoping the plan shall be comprehensive in its reach.  For our region and county, funds could be distributed to repair roads and bridges, but also for funding to expand multi-modal opportunities. As we move forward as a City, establishing and enhancing our walkability, bike paths, and accessibility around town and connecting to our neighbors shall become a more pressing priority. Stay tuned for more information on the possible ballot measure.

Edgewater Community Festival- Edgewater Collective and partners will be hosting its first Edgewater Community Festival May 12-14.  The festival is directly inspired by “Edgewater Days”.  I am excited for this event, and you will find all pertinent information HERE.

CIVIC CENTER UPDATE!!!!!!

Civic Center update from Dan “The Man” Maples”:

This is the first update of what we hope to be an every update on the Edgewater Civic Center Project. We apologize about the length, but are trying to keep everyone up with all that is happening. The City is working vigorously on this project, and we want to make sure the community that this new facility will serve, is kept in the loop with all the work. We hope this post and the many to come will provide an inside look at the project and the processes taken to complete this one of a kind opportunity. We welcome any questions or comments and will work to respond to any that are posted.

Website
The best way to keep up with all of the information is to check the City of Edgewater website (www.edgewaterco.com) or more specifically, for the Civic Center the Civic Center, page (http://www.edgewaterco.com/index.asp?SEC…). We will update this page as the project progresses. The page currently has a lot of information on it and in the coming weeks we hope to simplify the page and provide information links to all the pieces of the project.

Current City Facility Tours and Staff Interviews
Our design team has spent the past two weeks touring current City facilities and working with current City staff to develop a better understanding of the special needs of each department as well as the working relationships that will produce the best work flow of a new facility. Although a conceptual design was completed last summer, the design team is scrubbing the plan and making sure all of the components are thoroughly studied before any design work is initiated.

Public Open Houses
A schedule has been set for Public Open Houses to involve public input in the design process. There are four open houses scheduled (March 15, 22, 29 and April 1). The initial two Open Houses will be listening session for the design team to listen and discuss different public comments on the facility and all of the components of the facility. The second two open houses will be both listening to additional public comments and also presenting some of the design comments heard at the initial public houses. For times and locations please visit our website at www.edgewaterco.com and follow the link to the Edgewater Civic Center Update. We hope everyone will come to the open houses and provide needed public input.

Stay Tuned!

I have attached the Civic Center flyer for your perusal.  Thank you for reading this lengthy e-mail.  Please let me know if you have any questions or thoughts concerning anything above or other pressing issues on your mind.  Once again, I am always available for a beer or coffee!  See you soon.
