Edgewater City Weekly: October 13, 2017

From Deputy City Manager Dan Maples:

Public Works/Streets/Utilities

Street / Alley Lights: Street/Alley lights in Edgewater are maintained by Xcel energy. If you find an outage please contact 720-763-3012 or visit https://www.xcelenergy.com/outages_and_emergencies/outdoor_lighting_outages to report.

Street Sweeping: The week of October 16th will be our last regular sweeping dates for 2017. Although we still sweep, we usually have some freedom with the colder months due to the weather that may or may not happen. We are looking at a few changes for 2018 including posting the sweeping schedule on permanent signs throughout the neighborhoods. Much thanks to Jim Garcia for his diligence and continued hard work with the street sweeping operations.

Tree Branch Drop-Off: Due to the recent snow storm, the City of Edgewater will be providing a drop-off location for tree branches. On Saturday October 28th from 9am to 1pm the City of Edgewater will take tree branches at 5990 W. 20th Ave. Branches will be ground into mulch and mulch will be made available to residents at a later date. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept bags of leaves at this location. There will be a separate leaf pick-up in November for bagged leaves.

Special Item Pick-Up: All residents that utilize the City of Edgewater contracted trash service are given two (2) large pick-ups each calendar year. For a complete list of what can be taken in this service, please visit http://www.edgewaterco.com. (Under Service/ Programs tab, City Services, Trash & Recycling) If you are unable to make the drop off for branches this service could be utilized.

Parks and Recreation

Halloween Festival: Trick or Treat Street: The City of Edgewater in conjunction with Jefferson Junior/Senior High School will be hosting the Halloween Festival along with a Trick or Treat Street at Jefferson Junior/Senior High School. This event will host a variety of carnival games and a costume contest. Bring the whole family to enjoy this great community event. Saturday, October 28th from 12 pm – 2 pm at Jefferson Junior/Senior High School (2305 Pierce St.).
