Auto Theft Arrest:
On 10-17-17 at about 3:35PM, Officer Brink observed a grey Mazda 3 backed in to a parking spot that backed up to W. 17th Ave facing northbound, in the parking lot of Ace Hardware, 1719 Sheridan Blvd.
Officer Brink observed a white male, later identified as Tyler Q. standing beside the Mazda. Tyler was looking around and looked nervous as Brink drove by on W 17th Ave. Brink cleared the license plate, and learned that it was stolen out of Denver.
Brink turned into the parking lot and observed Tyler Q. enter the passenger side of the vehicle and close the door. He then observed another white male, later identified as Daniel Neuffer, exit the Ace Hardware. Brink deployed his handgun and announced, “Police, let me see your hands.” Both males put their hands up but Neuffer quickly fled southbound on foot.
Brink placed Tyler C. into custody and then Corpoal Geerdes began verbally arranging a perimeter with responding officers
Officer Robenalt located Neuffer hiding behind a tree in the 1600 block of Ames Ct. although Neuffer immediately ran. Detective Challis caught and arrested Nauffer in the 1600 block of Sheridan Blvd. assisted by Corporal Geerdes, Recruit Officer Johnson, Officer Officer McCallin and Officer Robenalt.

GRAND JURY INDICTS 19 IN MOTOR VEHICLE/BURGLARY/IDENTITY THEFT CRIMINAL OPERATION
A Denver Grand Jury has returned a 99-count indictment against 19 named defendants in connection with an alleged criminal enterprise involving over 90 victims and hundreds of thousands of dollars of stolen motor vehicles and other property, destruction of property, identity theft and other criminal activity.
Alleged ringleaders Pablo Bleacher), Noah Ferris, Jordan , Jory Ingram , and Michael Rodgers are each charged with one count of violation of the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act-COCCA (F2). They and the remaining 14 co-defendants are additionally variously charged with other felonies, including aggravated motor vehicle theft (F4, F5, F6), second degree burglary (F3, F4), and identity theft (F3, F4). The indictment was handed down October 4, 2017.
The indictment alleges that from at least between November 2015 and July 2017, with various members joining at various times, members of the criminal enterprise and associates stole an aggregate amount of more than $600,000 worth of motor vehicles; stole an aggregate amount of more than $40,000 worth of property while committing garage burglaries, motor vehicle trespasses, identity theft, and other thefts; caused an aggregate amount of more than $30,000 worth of property damage while committing garage burglaries and motor vehicle thefts; and that members of the enterprise shared money, proceeds from the sale of stolen property, stolen property, stolen identification documents, stolen financial transaction devices, stolen automobiles, transportation, controlled substances, food, clothing, and living quarters to accomplish the enterprise’s goals.
Bleacher, Ferris, Goetsch, Ingram, and Rodgers are in custody. Court hearings have not yet been scheduled.

Nextdoor and Neighborhood Watch are Growing!
Our tremendous volunteers, Pauline York and Lorenzo Rendon have done an exceptional job with our Neighborhood Watch Program. Pauline has identified several Block Captains and Lorenzo has spoken to many of you and is arranging block meetings. As we begin to identify and sign our Neighborhood Watch Blocks, we will also begin the process of comparing crime statistics in Watch Blocks compared to all other blocks. The NW program has historically been extremely successful in deterring crime, and I’m certain it will do the same for Edgewater. Our Edgewater Police Department Volunteers are researching methods to increase our Neighborhood Watch participation and participation in Nextdoor Edgewater. Both of these programs allow us to communicate more efficiently with residents for civic events and crime prevention purposes.
