Ohana Grille: A Taste of Hawaii on the Shores of Sloan’s Lake

Manager Elise Miller and Chef Rich Braunthal

Edgewater now has another delicious restaurant on Sheridan Boulevard for neighbors to taste great seafood and look across Sloan’s Lake toward Denver. I personally love eating the mouthwatering fried fish at GB Fish and Chips and transporting myself to a small pub on the coast of Scotland. Now I can eat great Hawaiian food and transport myself to a beach in Maui. Ohana Grille has opened on Sheridan Boulevard in Edgewater and brought its Hawaiian and Asian fusion food offerings.

Owner and chef Rich Braunthal has worked in the kitchen since he was a child and most recently operated Ohana Grille out of a food truck. He and his wife dreamed of a restaurant and the dream is coming true with Ohana Grille in Edgewater. Rich’s family has lived in Hawaii for over 30 years and he himself spent time in Oahu working in restaurants. Rich brings this great experience and food truck success to Edgewater and has already received a great welcome to the community. Even though the restaurant had a “soft launch” over the last few weeks, they have been full and community members are loving the food.

Braunthal was looking for locations around the metro area, and after another location fell through, they found the space on Sheridan where Thailicious had recently vacated. Rich and his wife fell in love with the space and the view across the lake. They will continue the food truck side of the business as the weather warms up in the spring.

Ohana offers a wide range of Hawaiian and Asian fusion from street tacos with mahi mahi to teriyaki chicken. Click here for their menu. I tried the Loco Moco which has a delicious serving of rice covered with a spiced sirloin patty, gravy and a fried egg. To top it all off I ended the meal with a freshly baked macadamia nut cookie.

This weekend Ohana Grille is having its Grand Opening with a special menu for Friday and Saturday. The Grand Opening menu includes three courses, a signature drink and live entertainment. Reservations are required as the event is expected to sell out. Reservations can be made by calling 303-232-0787 or emailing info@ohanagrille.com. Ohana Grill will be open and serving their full lunch menu Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm as the Grand Opening event goes from 6-10 pm. Here’s a sneak peak of the grand opening menu.

You can visit Ohana Grille at 2045 Sheridan Boulevard in Edgewater.
