Sustainable Edgewater Seminar 13: Climate Change

From Xerxes Steirer:

Let’s launch this year’s first Edgewater Sustainability Seminar with an updated overview on climate change. In most years, geologic time moves pretty slow, but a lot has happened in 2017, including an update to the data first published in a 1992 paper: World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity [1]. At least the ozone layer today is in good shape!

What is going on in the environment? Is the world getting hotter, colder, or is it one big global hoax crafted by Chineese tech giants trying to sell cheap green technologies? What does the data show? Do I need a PhD to read these graphs? Why is the world against us? Where do we look for the truth? What, if anything, can any of us do about it?

If you’re interested, concerned or simply curious about the state of the environment and climate change today, then this year’s first Sustainable Edgewater Seminar is going to rock your worldview. We’ll talk through the key pieces of scientific data to understand not only the temperature, but also the recent chemical and climatic observations in our ever changing world. We’ll attempt to balance the facts by presenting both sides of the climate change issue, to decide for ourselves what may be the cause. For example: Is it caused by humans or something else? And isn’t climate change normal? Regardless, our discussion will include things we can do right now to improve our environment and to slow climate change.
