Turnaround Efforts at Jefferson High School

Jefferson High School is a school in Turnaround which means that Jefferson High School is seeking effective ways and means of increasing student achievement.  Included in the Turnaround effort, the school is in the process of applying for a Tiered Intervention Grant from the U. S. Department of Education.  If awarded, the grant would fund programs that could directly and indirectly raise student achievement.  Grant recipients will be chosen and notified by May 30, 2014.

Besides having a stronger academic focus, Jefferson will be expanding its community outreach through family program offerings that extend into the evening hours during the 2014-2015 school year and beyond.

As part of this effort to better serve the students and families, all staff is receiving training to support the Turnaround goals.  Some staff members are also receiving training in Restorative Practices, a program of positive conflict resolution.
