The Edgewater Police Report from Police Chief John Hough:
Sometime between March 28, 2015 and March 29, 2015 a 1998 Ford F-150 was stolen from an apartment parking lot in the 2600 block of Kendall Street.
On April 3, 2015, at about 8:10 AM, the owner of a black 1999 Toyota 4Runner advised the Department that his vehicle was stolen from the 2800 block of Ingalls Street when he left the vehicle running to warm the vehicle interior.
On April 4, 2015, at about 12:05 AM, Jefferson County Dispatch advised the Department that the Denver and Lakewood Police Departments were in pursuit of a vehicle that had eluded them in the area of 20th Avenue and Eaton Street in Edgewater. The Denver Police Department helicopter was continuing to follow the vehicle northbound on Chase Street from 38th Avenue. An officer returning to the city southbound on Chase Street from 44th Avenue found himself directly in front of the vehicle at 41st Avenue and Chase Street. In an attempt to warn other drivers of the fleeing vehicle, the officer activated the emergency lights of his patrol vehicle. The fleeing vehicle collided with the front end of the patrol vehicle, causing minor damage to the vehicle and no injuries to the officer. The officer pursued the vehicle for a short period of time, but discontinued the pursuit when the fleeing vehicle’s speeds became excessively high. The Denver Police Department helicopter continued to follow the vehicle until it collided with a Denver Police Department vehicle at 55th Avenue and Federal Boulevard. Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested for multiple offenses by the Denver Police Department. One suspect is a 37-year-old male resident of Denver while the other suspect is a 32-year-old male resident of Denver.
On April 5, 2015, at about 6:20 AM, an officer conducting radar enforcement observed a vehicle speeding in the 2400 block of Sheridan Boulevard. When the officer contacted the driver of the vehicle, a 32-year-old male resident of Denver, he was arrested and issued a Jefferson County Court summons for speeding, failure to present evidence of vehicle insurance and DUI.
On April 5, 2015, at about 7:50 PM, officers were advised of a possible DUI driver in the area of 20th Avenue and Depew Street. The officers located the vehicle in a parking lot in the 6800 block of W. 24th Avenue. When the officers contacted the occupant of the vehicle, a 32-year-old male resident of Edgewater, he was arrested and issued a Jefferson County Court summons for DUI. The suspect was transported to a local detox facility due to his level of intoxication.
On April 5, 2015, at about 11:40 PM, officers responded to the King Soopers parking lot at 1725 Sheridan Boulevard regarding a possible stolen vehicle. Upon their arrival, the officers contacted a female who identified the stolen vehicle. As the officers approached the vehicle, which appeared to be unoccupied, a male suddenly sat up in the driver’s seat and drove away with the officers in pursuit. The vehicle pursuit was terminated in the area of Utica Street and 17th Avenue when the officers lost sight of the vehicle and due to the driver’s unsafe operation of the vehicle. The female who identified the stolen vehicle advised the officers that the driver of the vehicle was her estranged husband who told her the vehicle he was driving was stolen. The female and her estranged husband became involved in a domestic violence incident in Denver at a party. The domestic violence incident and a related violation of a protection order were reported to the Denver Police Department. The Edgewater Police Department will conduct a follow-up investigation into the reckless driving, eluding and operating a vehicle with a revoked driver’s license by the 32-year-old male resident of Lakewood who is the estranged husband.
