This morning residents on the west side of Edgewater were surprised by the loud thumping of a helicopter circling over town. No it wasn’t the military taking over our little city like some in Texas fear. The Colorado National Guard landed in the softball field next to Lumberg Elementary School as part of the Colorado Joint Counterdrug Task Force’s Red Ribbon program. This program is focused on helping children and teenagers stay drug free. The visit to Lumberg was organized by a parent who serves in the Colorado National Guard.
