From Edgewater Police Chief John Hough:
The Dragon Boat Festival on July 18-19, 2015 at Sloan’s Lake occurred without any significant incidents impacting Edgewater. Even the number of vehicles towed from private commercial parking lots, particularly the Edgewater Marketplace, was much lower than in previous years, perhaps in part because the Edgewater Marketplace hired security guards to advise motorists not to park in the parking lot if they were not conducting business at one of the businesses in the Marketplace.
On July 20, 2015, at about 3:05 PM, officers responded to the Target store at 1985 Sheridan Boulevard regarding a shoplifting suspect in the custody of the store’s loss prevention agent. Upon searching the suspect during his arrest, the officers discovered methamphetamine and credit cards with a different individual’s name hidden in his sock. The suspect, a 40-year-old male resident of Denver, was arrested and transported to the Jefferson County Jail where an additional amount of controlled substance was discovered during a secondary search prior to the suspect entering the jail facility. The suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), criminal possession of a financial device (credit cards) and theft.
