Edgewater Police Chief John Hough Retires

Current Edgewater Police Chief John Hough communicated through his regular community reports that there will be a new Police Chief in town starting August 24. According to Edgewater City Manager HJ Stalf, “Chief Hough announced his retirement earlier this month.  Chief Mackey will serve in an interim basis. He will start work on Monday and work with Chief Hough for a short while in the transition.”

Chief John Hough started as the Interim Police Chief in August 2013 and one of the first things residents noticed was a weekly Police Report from the Edgewater Police Department. Chief Hough has been actively responding to resident concerns and questions on the online neighborhood networking site NextDoor.

The new Interim Police Chief John Mackey comes from a long career in law enforcement. Most recently he served as the Police Chief at the Aurora Higher Education Center and before that as the Police Chief in Dillon. He started his career as an officer and detective with the Lakewood Police Department.
