From Edgewater Police Chief John Mackey:
On September 20, 2015 at about 1:15 PM Edgewater Officers received a report of a shoplifting at the Target Store, 1985 Sheridan Blvd. Store Security advised officers that they observed a female select a set of bed sheets from a store shelf. The female then returned the sheets to the Customer Service Counter and obtained a cash refund in the form of a gift card for $86.39, at which point Store Security notified police.
Edgewater Officers located the female in the women’s clothing section and took her into custody. Upon searching the female, she was found to have methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine on her person. The female advised officers that she had been released from the Department of Corrections within the last month. The homeless female was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail on charges of Theft, and Illegal Possession of both Schedule I and Schedule II Controlled Substances.
On September 20, 2015 shortly before 1 AM Edgewater Officers responded to the 2800 block of Kendall St. on a report of an uncooperative male customer and no-pay from a Metro Taxi driver. Shortly after arriving on scene the passenger fled northbound on Kendall St. The responding Edgewater Officer pursued the suspect on foot and was able to catch up to the suspect. The suspect physically resisted the arrest, although the officer was subsequently able to take the man into custody. The 54 year old Arvada man was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail on charges of Theft and Resisting Arrest.
On September 19, 2015 at about 2:40 AM Edgewater Officers observed a blue sedan traveling at a high rate of speed southbound in the 2400 block of Sheridan Blvd. Officers were able to stop the vehicle at Colfax and Sheridan and subsequently arrested a 40 year old Lakewood woman for DUI.
On September 15, 2015 at about 1:40 AM Edgewater Officers were traveling northbound in the 2400 block of Sheridan Blvd when they observed a white sedan traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. The officers initiated a U-turn, activated their emergency lights and siren, and attempted to pull over the white sedan. The sedan continued southbound at a high rate of speed while switching lanes several times. The sedan turned westbound on 17th, failed to stop for the stop sign at Depew Street, and made a sharp left turn, causing it to drive on the wrong side of Depew St. The sedan then made a right turn onto W. 16th Avenue, but pulled over to the side of the road just west of Depew Street.
Officers contacted the driver, a 20 year old Denver woman, a 19 year old male passenger of Denver, and the 1 year old child of the driver in a car seat in the back seat. The Denver woman was cited for reckless driving, attempting to elude a police officer, open container, minor in possession of alcohol, and child abuse.
