Edgewater’s journey with fire services has been an interesting one over the last few years. Prior to 2013, Edgewater had its own volunteer fire department. As a result of a vote in November 2012, Edgewater Fire became part of the Wheat Ridge Fire Protection District. The Edgewater Fire Station at Gray and 25th is now operated by Wheat Ridge Fire.
This Wednesday night at 7 pm, the Boards of Wheat Ridge Fire and West Metro Fire will be holding a joint work session to discuss an Intergovernmental Agreement to start a merger of the two departments. The meeting will be at West Metro Fire Protection District Training Center at 3535 S. Kipling Street in Lakewood.
