From Bicycle Colorado:
Montrose, Leadville and Edgewater were awarded Active Transportation Technical Assistance through LiveWell’s HEAL Cities & Towns Campaign. Over the next several months, we’ll partner with these communities to provide assistance on policies and projects aligned with their goals, including:
- Mapping safe routes to school
- Including bicycle and pedestrian best practices into street retrofit plans
- Mitigating roadway hazards to decrease potential conflicts for bicyclists and pedestrians
- Improving trail connections
- Calming traffic to increase safety for bicyclists and pedestrians
At these initial site visits, Bicycle Colorado representatives met with key city staff, elected officials and advocates and walked the communities to assess local conditions and identify priority destinations, such as schools and parks.
Joel has been a resident of Edgewater, Colorado with his family since 2012. He is the Executive Director of local education nonprofit Edgewater Collective and Editor of the Edgewater Echo.
