From the City of Lakewood:
The 40 West Arts Loop is an exciting new walking and biking arts experience that is being developed in the heart of the state-certified 40 West Arts Creative District in northeast Lakewood. This unique amenity is envisioned to become a special place for the Lakewood community and for others living in and visiting the metro Denver region.
The City of Lakewood and 40 West Arts were awarded a highly competitive National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Our Town Grant to help create the 40 West Arts Loop. Using grant funds and other partner contributions, artists will be employed to collaborate with the community to delineate the route with visual cues, install playful art elements along it, and create iconic art installations at the three Loop parks – Aviation Park, Walker-Branch Park, and Mountair Park.
Art will reflect the unique character and culture of the neighborhoods located along historic West Colfax Avenue and the new W Line light rail as well as the energy and momentum emerging from this evolving creative community.
Once complete, this memorable experience will draw residents and visitors back again and again to encounter an imaginative journey of joy and discovery.
