Over the holidays there are numerous ways to give back and provide hope to those who are struggling. Around the area, the Action Center and the Edgewater Giving Tree provide a way to give presents to children. This year two of our local schools, Edgewater Elementary and Molholm Elementary, are collecting presents for their Holiday Shops.
With increasing rents in the 80214 area, budgets are tight and holiday shopping is hard on families in the area. Holiday Shops in the local schools provide an opportunity for families to shop and purchase toys for their children at highly discounted prices. Parents that work in the store will be paid with credits that they can use to purchase toys for their children.
You can help fill the Holiday Shops at Edgewater Elementary and Molholm Elementary by donating new toys/gifts for children birth through 18 years old. Toys/gifts can be dropped off through noon on Wednesday, December 14.

Holiday Shops are inspired by parents, school leaders and community members at Pleasant View Elementary in Golden that have organized a similar store over the last couple of years. Here’s the story of the Miracle Shop at Pleasant View:
Joel has been a resident of Edgewater, Colorado with his family since 2012. He is the Executive Director of local education nonprofit Edgewater Collective and Editor of the Edgewater Echo.
