RMCAD is thrilled to announce two special appearances by animator Floyd Norman as part of its Visiting Artist, Scholar, and Designer Program and in partnership with Alamo Drafthouse and Clyfford Still Museum.
On Wednesday, May 17, 2017, celebrated Disney animator Floyd Norman will present a free, public Masterclass at 10:30 a.m. at RMCAD (1600 Pierce Street, Denver, CO 80214). Later that day, Norman will give an introduction and be present for a Q+A at a screening of the documentary film Floyd Norman: An Animated Life at Alamo Drafthouse (7301 S. Santa Fe Drive, Unit #850, Littleton, CO 80120) at 7:00 p.m. (tickets are $8).
Floyd Norman was the first African-American animator at Walt Disney Animation Studios. While there he contributed both his technical skill and infectious sense of wonder to Disney classics such as Sleeping Beauty and The Jungle Book. In addition to Disney, the artist has worked at Hanna-Barbera, Ruby-Spears, and Pixar where he contributed to Toy Story 2 and Monsters, Inc., among numerous other film and television titles.
