Corporal Mike Nesbitt with the Edgewater Police Department is recovering from life-threatening injuries he sustained apprehending a DUI suspect on June 23, 2017. He is scheduled for surgery next week and expected to be in the ICU for several more days. Doctors anticipate at least another week of hospitalization.
Mike has been in law enforcement for 10 years; five years with the Edgewater Police Department. His respect for the community he serves and his dedication to keep residents safe is a high priority. Mike is the top performer in DUI citations; his efforts (along with his fellow officers) over the last two years resulted in awards for the Edgewater Police Department from M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers).
After Officer Nesbitt is discharged from the hospital, his recovery will continue from home; several months is expected. His wife and two young daughters will be by his side throughout his recovery.
Friends and family have set up a fund to help the Nesbitt family. Donations can be made at any US Bank branch location in the name of Cpl Michael Nesbitt Family Relief Fund.
The Nesbitt family sincerely thanks MC-1 Foundation for their donation today.
