From Edgewater Police:
On 12/12/2017, shortly after 8PM Edgewater Officers received a domestic violence report at Terra Village Apartments. Officers located a 32 year old female who had been beaten, strangled and signs of suffocation were visible. The victim indicated that she was assaulted by her live-in boyfriend, Dean Scott who currently was on parole for murder. The victim advised officers that Scott punched her in the face, strangled her with his hands and placed a pillow over her head in an attempt to suffocate her. The suspect, assaulted and forcibly took the victim’s car keys and stole her 2013 Blue Nissan Altima when he fled the area. Officers sought medical treatment for the victim and began to search for the suspect. On 12/13/2017 Edgewater Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect in this case, Dean Scott, 35 yoa (photo above) for multiple felonies involving the assault. Scott has been on parole for criminally negligent homicide. Due to the severity of the offense Edgewater Officers surveilled the Terra Village complex and on 12/14/17 at about 3:30 PM they observed Dean Scott returning to the victim’s apartment. Officers contacted and arrested Scott and subsequently lodged him in the Jefferson County Jail on the Assault Warrant and DOC parole violation.
