From the City of Edgewater:
The City of Edgewater elected officials and staff would like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday season. This will be the last weekly communication for the 2017 calendar year. We look forward to 2018 and another great year in Edgewater!
Public Works
Holiday Tree Recycle: The City of Edgewater will be providing a tree drop off on Saturday, January 6 from 9am – 1pm at 22nd Ave. and Benton St. for Edgewater residents. Trees will be loaded into roll off containers and taken off location for mulching. If you are unable to transport your tree, are a City trash customer, and would like to dispose of it, please cut it in half and place it with your republic trash receptacle for pick-up.
Parks and Recreation
Holiday Lighting Contest: The Parks, Recreation, Historic Preservation and Arts Advisory Board would like to congratulate 2448 Marshall St. as the 2017 Holiday Lighting Contest Winner! It was a tough to judge this year, as there were many well decorated homes. Special thanks to all Edgewater residents that decorated their homes.
Snow Angels: Currently the City of Edgewater is in need of snow shoveling, VOLUNTEERS. Volunteers must submit an application and clear a basic background screen before they can be assigned to a senior. The City of Edgewater works to assign the approved volunteer to a senior within the same block, or as close to the volunteer’s residence as possible. Volunteers, once assigned, are given 24 hours after a storm to clear the sidewalks around the senior’s home. We encourage volunteers to do this as soon as possible as we want to make sure seniors can get in and out of their homes after a storm. City staff works to fill in for volunteers that are out of town during a storm.
Volunteers tend to not only provide the snow shoveling but also help engage seniors in the community. Many times, we learn about other needs seniors may have through volunteers that have this connection. If you are looking for a rewarding way to give back to your community and become a Snow Angel please contact Patrick Martinez at 720-763-3010 or find us on-line at www.playedgewater.com under “volunteer opportunities” and “snow angel program”.
Code Enforcement
Graffiti Removal Program: In an effort to fast track the clean-up of graffiti in Edgewater, the City provides a clean up program. The City of Edgewater will remove the graffiti through our Graffiti Removal Program. Please visit our web site for the form and return to the City of Edgewater for graffiti removal on your property. For graffiti on other properties in the City, please contact Code Enforcement at 720-459-3297 or codeenforcement@edgewaterco.com. A special thanks to Ace Hardware of Edgewater for providing paint and supplies for this program.
Municipal Court
2018 Edgewater Municipal Court Schedule: In 2018 the Edgewater Municipal Court will be held only on the first and third Tuesday of each month, starting at 9am. The change is due to a smaller docket having court every Tuesday.
