Design Plans for the Redevelopment of 25th and Gray

A view of the former City Hall and Edgewater Library to be purchased by City Street Investors

At the City Council meeting on Thursday, August 2 representatives from City Street Investors shared their ideas for the redevelopment of the City-owned properties at 25th and Gray in Edgewater. City Street Investors was chosen to purchase the land on the northeast corner of 25th Avenue and Gray Street that includes the former Edgewater Fire Station, former City Hall and Edgewater Library.

The concept for 25th and Gray includes a open air seating area between the buildings that currently house the Edgewater Recreation Room and the Edgewater Library. The building that formerly housed the Edgewater Fire Station would become parking though the fire tower would remain.

The developers discussed some of the ideas for the space which might include a restaurant, ice cream shop, bakery and coffee shop.

Stay tuned for more as the design concept makes its way through the Edgewater Planning and Zoning Commission over the next few months. The developers hope to complete the redevelopment by November 2019.

I do hope they plan for a lot of parking. that area is already too busy and short on parking spaces. adding in all those businesses sounds like a parking disaster, not only for businesses, but also residents living near there.

    • I counted 17 parking spaces on the plan. That’s seems like quite a few more than average for the businesses along Tennyson between 38th and 44th. I think it’s more than Sloan’s, more than Providence, and more than Joy Ride.

  2. Hooray for Edgewater. I/we honestly love what the City of Edgewater is doing with all of the redevelopment plans. You go !
