Letter to newly promoted Edgewater Police Department Corporals from Police Chief John Mackey:
On 6/1/2018 you participated in a Promotional Assessment Center for the position of Corporal. Former Edgewater Police Chiefs Duke Smith, Dan Keough and Jim Peloni and local Police Sergeants from the Denver, Golden and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were assessors during the course of your testing process. You participated in a very arduous assessment and you performed exceptionally as shown by your promotions. The Edgewater Police Department is fortunate as all seven candidates that competed for the positions passed this robust test by an extremely talented group of assessors. Therefore each of you successfully met the requirements of the position of Corporal with the Edgewater Police Department. Moreover and importantly your promotion is based on your dedication and commitment to our Edgewater community, work product, and my trust and that of Commanders Hamilton and Fowle and Sergeants Forsythe and Geerdes in your ability to succeed in this assignment. As discussed in the interview process, the rank of Corporal is a very important position to this department and this city. I am confident that you will assume a leadership role in the department to organize, direct, and administer the delivery of comprehensive police services. The rank of Corporal will certainly provide you with the individual challenges and opportunities for personal achievement in your law enforcement career. You are looked upon as a valued employee with the City of Edgewater. I look forward to your continued growth and development as part of our team and salute your accomplishment!
