From Xerxes Steirer:
This month’s sustainability seminar will be held in the new Edgewater Library!
During the holiday season, the push to consume, spend and buy more than before increases faster than Santa’s sled at midnight. Often, this can run counter to our desires to simply be present with our friends and family. At the end of the holiday season there is more trash, waste, and money spent. What if we tried it a little differently?
Last year, Lee Stiffler-Meyer and Lilly Steirer asked each other- is all of this spending, buying and consuming really necessary? Then they made a commitment to be more creative while consuming less. They invited others to join the fun as they marked progress on Instagram with the hashtag #creativityoverconsumption.
At our first Sustainability Seminar at Edgewater’s brand new Library in the Civic Center on Harlan, Lilly & Lee will talk about all that they learned during their holiday challenge. This will include ideas for upcycling, buying second hand, handmade gifts even if you don’t feel artsy, experiential gifting, their plans for this year and more. They will also talk about how creativity reduces the impact on the environment while nourishing their souls during a hectic time of year.
Location: The New Edgewater Library! 1800 Harlan St., Edgewater
Date: Tuesday, November 20th
Time: 7pm – 8pm
