Edgewater Police Report: 12/10/2018

Handgun Menacing

On 11/27/18 at about 1PM Edgewater Officers were dispatched to the commercial parking lot at 20th and Ames St on report of a menacing with a handgun.

A neighbor had been walking to the Dunkin Donuts and walked passed a white Toyota with a male and female sitting in their vehicle when the male said something to the neighbor. When the neighbor turned to face the male driver the driver pointed a black handgun at him chambered a round and told him to leave. The neighbor noted the license plate to the white Toyota, ran away from the Toyota and dialed 911.

Edgewater Officers put out an attempt to locate out on the white Toyota and responded to the Arvada address of the registered owner, although a “friend” had borrowed the Toyota. Arvada Officers subsequently were involved in a pursuit of the vehicle and foot pursuit of the 19 year old Arvada driver who was arrested with a stolen handgun.

Edgewater Officers were subsequently able to interview the 19 year old Arvada residence in jail who subsequently admitted to being involved in the handgun menacing in Edgewater – great job by our local neighbor and Edgewater Detective Sergeant Geerdes, Corporals Brink, Challis and Young, and Officers Green, Robenalt and Wolf, and the Arvada Police.

Crash involving SBI and 3 children

On 12/8/2018 shortly after 5PM Edgewater Officers responded to a serious injury traffic accident at 17th and Sheridan Blvd involving a Buick sedan turning westbound in front of a large Ford truck which was traveling southbound on Sheridan Blvd. The 70 year old driver of the Buick was transported to the hospital with serious bodily injuries and 3 young children who were passengers in the Buick were all transported as well. As of the time of this report all of the injured persons have been released from the hospital and the investigation continues.

Burglary of Native Roots Dispensary

On 12/9/2018 at 5:30 AM a black Dodge Ram 2500 pickup without license plates rammed into the garage door of the Native Roots dispensary at 5610 W. 20th Ave which opened a hole for two males dressed in all black to enter the business with crow bars while a man stayed in the drivers seat and a female dressed in all black watched for traffic along W. 20th Ave. The two males exited the business carrying articles of merchandise from the store and the vehicle fled Eastbound on W. 20th Ave. Edgewater Police have passed this information out state wide and will be providing further video information pertaining to the vehicle and suspects shortly. Case continues . .

Vehicle crashes into Edgewater home

On 12/9 at about 1:30AM a 25 year old Edgewater resident lost control of his vehicle while traveling eastbound on W. 26th and crashed into a home in the 6500 block of W. 26th Avenue nearly striking a woman who was sleeping in a northwest bedroom. The Edgewater man was arrested for DUI and traffic violations and lodged in Jefferson County Jail.
