One of Edgewater’s watering holes with the best address number in town is finally reopening. The space formerly known as Providence Tavern is under new ownership as Providence at 5280. Providence Tavern, which was located at 5280 W. 25th Avenue, had been closed for months and the new owners will open just in time for the summer.
This Friday, June 7, Providence at 5280 will hold a Grand Reopening from 11:30 am to 2 a.m on Saturday. The event will be sponsored by Dry Dock Brewing Company and Providence will be smoking all kinds of meats that are not on the usual menu. Dry Dock will be at Providence from 4-8 pm doing giveaways, raffles, music and more.
The new ownership of Providence mentioned the connection to the old Providence, “The final thing we wanted to mention is that despite Providence having new owners, it was bought by employees that worked there for years and we want to keep the vibe of the old Providence and are only creating minor changes that will improve the overall running.”
So enjoy the beautiful summer weather, walk down to 25th Avenue on Friday night and support one of our great Edgewater businesses!

Glad to see this Edgewater staple back again. Hope the new owners won’t follow the old habits of over tipping tabs and over charging that seemed to happen to often at the old Providence Tavern, though. And, looking forward to the great burgers and onion rings..
