The opening of the Edgewater Public Market at 20th and Depew is coming soon so we thought it would be a great time to spotlight the businesses moving into the spaces.
Today we are talking to Sebastian Gast, Studio Owner of Row House Edgewater!
How did you get involved in this business?
I have always maintained a passion for sports and fitness, and have done my best to stay active despite my office-based professional career. A few years ago, I started having knee issues from running, which introduced me to the benefits of rowing. The low-impact, highly-efficient full-body workout quickly became part of my fitness regimen. I really believe in the rowing workout and its benefits, plus the added element of ‘teamwork’ really clicked with me. I found that Row House provides an amazing fitness experience that remains authentic to the sport of rowing, and I knew the Denver area would embrace such a concept. I am thrilled to offer this unique fitness option, especially in such an active city!
What drew you to be part of the Edgewater Public Market?
Edgewater Public Market is an amazing draw to the City of Edgewater, and it is very exciting to be a part of such a flagship project and location. Edgewater is truly a small town part of a big city, and I love the “neighborhood” feel and the pride taken in small and local business. My goal is to continue to make Edgewater a Denver-area “gem” and encourage people from all over to eat, drink, play, and workout with us in this beautiful town. I am certain Edgewater Public Market will deliver all of the above, and just steps away from beautiful Sloan’s Lake.
What services and programming do you offer?
Row House offers 6 different kinds of indoor-rowing workouts on rowing machines (i.e. “ergs”) that target the entire body in only 45 minutes. Rowing alone engages 85% of the body’s muscles, and while every class has a rowing component, our programming incorporates body work, dumbbell work, interval-training, and more. We provide the best full-body, low-impact workout in town in a non-intimidating setting. Classes will run 7 days a week, several times per day to fit individual schedules.
What makes your business unique?
Imagine being in a dimly-lit room with a giant water graphic behind you and a mirror wall in front of you. You feel like you are on a boat on the water, and you are next to 24 other people pulling at the same stroke rate, feeling the whoosh of the rowing machines and the surge of the music. We created an environment that is true to the sport of rowing, emphasizing teamwork and inclusiveness. At the end of the class, the monitors show how far we rowed together (while tracking our individual performances in our app). At Row House, we are a family – we ‘leave no rower behind’ and celebrate the accomplishments of all our members.
