From Casey Earp:
Hello Neighbors,
My name is Casey Earp and I am running for Edgewater City Council. I have spent my career working in local government and I am excited to bring my experience and expertise to this position on Council. I am a small-town guy at heart, growing up on the Western Slope, and I am excited to bring the small-town values of trust, openness, and transparency to Council. My wife and I have lived in Edgewater for a little over three years and we are looking forward to celebrating many milestones in this community. I’d be thrilled to earn your vote in the upcoming election for some of the reasons outlined below:
1. Past Experience – I have spent time as the Assistant to the City Manager in Steamboat Springs and the Assistant City Manager in Boulder. In each role I have worked on projects ranging from land use and zoning to neighborhood services and these experiences will help me bring an eye for opportunity to our decision-making process. About three years ago I moved into the private sector where I help local governments implement community engagement strategies across the country – something I believe we could a better job of here in Edgewater. I am proud to have run the community engagement and outreach effort associated with the recently adopted sustainability plan and will do my best to ensure that type of outreach occurs around every major decision I am a part of on Council.
2. Passion for Communities – Beyond my professional career I have enjoyed spending my free time working within the communities I live in. In Steamboat Springs, I coached high school hockey and was a senior mentor for Partners. In Edgewater, I have spent time volunteer during ally clean up days, arbor day tree plantings (although ours looks a little worse for wear at this point) and the sustainability committee. I feel that there is no better way to hear from people and connect with people than through these opportunities. It is my hope that I can meet everyone the majority of our residents through these opportunities and listen to your viewpoints on every issue.
3. Platform – I have highlighted, on my website, a few things I would like to focus on during my term. These include Sustainability, Mobility, Quality of Life, and Local Businesses. My primary focus in each of these areas is to make sure that we are creating adequate channels for everyone to participate in the process and learn about the upcoming milestones for each project/policy coming out of Council. We have a small and active enough community to keep people in the loop and make sure that voices are heard.
I am excited to launch my campaign and hear more from you. If you have any questions, comments or would like to read more about my campaign, please visit www.earpforedgewater.com or email me at earpforedgewater@gmail.com.
Thank you for your consideration,
Casey Earp
