Edgewater Zero Waste Talk with Bea Johnson

EVENT SOLD OUT

Zero Waste is no longer a buzz word, it’s a movement. Hundreds of thousands of people across the U.S. are embracing the zero waste lifestyle in an effort to conserve resources, reduce waste and create a more sustainable planet.

On October 13th, Edgewater will welcome international speaker Bea Johnson of the Zero Waste Home in an intimate gathering at the Edgewater Civic Center. Since 2008, Bea and her family have produced less than a pint of trash every year. Her efforts have led to CNN calling Bea “the mother of the zero-waste lifestyle movement.”

In a visually-rich presentation, Bea will share her tribulations and secrets to achieving Zero Waste. She covers the importance of applying the 5R’s in order (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot) and shatters misconceptions, proving that the Zero Waste lifestyle can not only be “stylish,” but also leads to significant health benefits, and time and money savings.

Bea has delivered her keynote to large companies including Starbuck’s, Google, IKEA, L’oreal, Amazon and more. Bea is the creator of Bulk, the web app that points to thousands of waste-free locations worldwide and lets you share those you find. She’s also the author of “Zero Waste Home: The Ultimate Guide to Simplifying Your Life by Reducing Your Waste” (Scribner, 2013)

Also, bring your own bottle or cup to enjoy refreshments during this zero waste event.

When: October 13th from 2-3:30pm
Where: Edgewater Civic Center (1800 Harlan Street)
