Maybe it’s the new, drive-thru ballot box at the Edgewater Civic Center, or the fact that they like to think through decisions carefully, but Edgewater voters waited until the last minute to turn in their ballots for the 2019 election. As of November 4, Edgewater had the lowest voter turnout of any municipality in Jefferson County with 19.29%.
But with a last minute drive reminiscent of the great John Elway, Edgewater voters turned in their ballots on Election Day and almost doubled the voter turnout to 37.18%. While still lower than surrounding municipalities, Edgewater no longer had the lowest voter turnout in Jefferson County (Westminster came in at 36.55%).
Voter turnout is defined as the percentage of voting eligible adults who cast a ballot.
