A Message from 9NEWS:

Due to the recent state of emergency declared by GOV. Jared Polis and based on the recommendations of the CDC we shall be postponing the private screening of The Jefferson Project until further notice.

The safety of our community and its members comes first here at 9NEWS and because of that, we shall try to reschedule this event for a future date.

We apologize ahead of time for any inconvenience this may occur. Thank you for your understanding.

Over the last few years we have had the privilege of connecting with one of our Edgewater residents, Anne Herbst, who works for 9News. We sent her emails whenever good news stories were happening in our schools from our graduates walking through the local elementary schools to a pen pal project with students in Tanzania.

The Edgewater Echo first launched in 2013 because we knew good things were happening in our schools and we wanted to lift those stories up. We were so frustrated when our schools would just be in the news for low test scores or other incidents.

Last school year Anne Herbst and Nelson Garcia from 9News spent time at Jefferson Junior/Senior High School with their cameras chronicling the stories of staff and four seniors. So often outsiders see our schools in terms of test scores and deficits, but those of us who are part of the school communities see them in terms of stories and assets. The best part of The Jefferson Project from 9News is that you get to hear the stories of students first hand.

Now Anne and Nelson have put all of the stories along with new content together into a documentary. We would love to invite you to a showing of the documentary by 9News on Wednesday, March 11.
