What led you to start Khesed?

When I was a graduate student early in the pursuit of my clinical mental health career, I needed counseling support and quickly realized I was unable to afford it. Unfortunately, my story is common.
Since that experience, I have been on a mission to make mental health and wellness services affordable for the underinsured, which is most of us. KHESED is built upon the philosophy that living kindness spreads, which is why 10% of our services are also offered pro bono for those who cannot afford help..
What services do you offer?
We offer outpatient mental health and wellness services for the underinsured, which is most of us.
What makes your organization unique?
We eliminate the top three roadblocks to mental health therapy in Colorado — unaffordable costs, lack of insurance coverage, and difficulty getting an appointment. We offer free and 50% reduced market rate services, we are a cash pay organization with fees lower than most insurance-based options, and we respond to client inquiries within two business days. We also prioritize our clinicians, creating a strong team environment enabling us to consistently provide the highest quality care.
What draws you to open a location in Edgewater?
We want every community in Colorado to have access to mental health and wellness services they can afford and access in their neighborhood. We grow through invitations from local community members. We have been invited to launch a site in Edgewater, and we know that most within the community would benefit from our affordability and accessibility. During social distancing requirements, we are providing virtual therapy sessions and will transition to local in-person sessions once distancing requirements change.
