The pandemic has impacted every sector of our world and community members have stepped up to help their neighbors and support nonprofits working to ensure that people are fed, housed and cared for during this crisis. Today, December 8, is another chance to financially support nonprofits across Colorado by participating in Colorado Gives Day sponsored by Community First Foundation.
Since COVID-19 started impacting the Edgewater community, Edgewater Collective has been working to support families, schools and businesses. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community through donations and volunteer hours, we have been able to mobilize the following efforts:
- Delivering over 2,450 meals through Mutual Meals with over $20,000 going to local restaurants.
- Providing summer lunches and literacy lessons through Lunch and Learn.
- Community gardens on 25th Avenue and at Jefferson Junior/Senior High School were mobilized to provide fresh produce for the community.
- The Edgewater Echo and its social media accounts were mobilized to share local business information and community news.
- Providing over $35,000 in grocery gift cards and housing grants to families through the support of local municipalities.
- Organizing free after school tutoring, enrichment programming and family classes through Pathway Pods.
Edgewater’s Collective’s work to ensure families, schools and businesses are not left behind by the pandemic will continue into 2021.
- Community Housing Advocates will continue to connect community members to housing and utility assistance.
- Pathway Pods will continue to offer free tutoring and family classes through the winter, spring and into the summer.
- The Edgewater Echo will continue to share news around town and spread the word about our great local businesses.
- Once the pandemic slows, community events will be planned to bring our community together to support local businesses and reconnect neighbors.
You can support this ongoing work to help our community through the pandemic by donating to Edgewater Collective today for Colorado Gives Day.
