Mulch is a critical component of all healthy, vibrant yards. It significantly reduces our outdoor water use by limiting surface evaporation, conserving soil moisture and improving water penetration. In Colorado, we lose topsoil at higher rates because of our intense sun, windstorms, and other wild weather. Mulch will help protect the top layer, improve soil nutrients and reduce weed growth. Wood chips should be applied to the yard or garden at a depth of at least 3 inches. Note: There’s no need to drop off sticks in order to collect free mulch in the afternoon!
