From Blues & BBQ for Better Housing:
The 25th Annual Blues & BBQ for Better Housing music festival kicks off Saturday, July 16, at Citizens Park in Edgewater.
Six local bands will provide blues, funk and rock throughout the day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The family-friendlly event will feature plenty of barbecue, beer, booths and fun for kids.
The admission of $10 covers the music at the park. The food and drinks are extra.
Blues and BBQ for Better Housing has donated nearly $500,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver and other charitable organizations that help build affordable housing.
Ranger Miller, who heads up the Bruce Springsteen tribute band Glory Days, launched the charity event in Denver in the 1990s. “We were playing a gig downtown and set out a hat to collect a few bucks for Habitat for Humanity,” he recalls. “The next thing you know, we’ve raised a half million bucks to help build affordable housing for people who are working hard but struggling to make ends meet.”
