From Edgewater Police:
The Edgewater Police Department is continuing their active investigation into the shooting death of 33-year old Adam Fresquez that occurred on May 3, 2023 in the parking lot of the Edgewater Public Market. While the investigation is nearing completion, detectives are awaiting forensics results from two (2) local crime laboratories before presenting the case to the 1st Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Members of the Fresquez family have been in regular contact with representatives from the Edgewater Police Department over the past three (3) months. Edgewater Police Chief Eric S. Sonstegard met with Adam’s parents and a representative from the Denver Justice Project on Friday, August 11th, prior to the demonstration held at the 1st Judicial District Attorney’s office in Golden. The Edgewater Police Department will continue to be responsive and provide information to the family as it becomes available.
“I cannot put into words the empathy I feel for Lena and Juan and their entire family over the death of their son. I can’t begin to understand the pain and frustration they have endured waiting for our investigation to conclude. The presentation of a complete and thorough case to the District Attorney’s office remains our highest priority.” – Eric S. Sonstegard, Chief of Police, Edgewater Police Department
