From Latinos in Action:
Latinos In Action offers an asset-based approach to bridging the graduation and opportunity gap for Latino students, working from within the educational system to create a positive change. Our mission is to empower Latino youth to lead and strengthen their communities through college and career readiness.
Our goal is to fundraise money for future leadership events, leadership retreats, our community, and for our own shirts with the Latinos in Action (LIA) logo. Our Retreats helps us as a class to make connections with each other, to bond, and know who we are actually working with as a class community. It is crucial to know our surroundings, since each one of us has a different culture, religion, and something to offer. As we grow relationships with each other it helps us to create an immense bond and have excellent communication at the moment of important events including at schools and in our Edgewater community. Our shirts on the other hand is to give a professional image at the moment of our events or tutoring. The image we want to project is pride of being a part of LIA so people can know what cause we are fighting for.
