Food Drive and Message from Outgoing Mayor Beltrone

Edgewater Mayor John Beltrone

From Edgewater Mayor John Beltrone:

Dear Edgewater Community,

The holidays are a time for reflection, giving, and gratitude. This is especially meaningful to me as I write to you in my last post as mayor.

Perhaps the best part of Edgewater is seeing how this community comes together to serve others. During the worst of the pandemic, Edgewater lifted each other up through financial support and neighborly compassion. 2 years ago, our community rallied to help victims of the Marshall Fire. Last December, during the first migrant surge in the metro area, residents gave generously to the city’s clothing drive.

Once again, Edgewater is being asked to step up to assist those who need it most. This year, with heavy migration continuing, many living unhoused, and pandemic support ending, we again are seeing a large need. In fact, the need is so high that the Action Center has had to cut its free grocery service from twice to once a month. If you are able, I ask that you please donate to the city’s food drive for our local food bank.

It has been an incredible privilege to serve as Edgewater Mayor and City Councilmember the past 6 years. The progress that this city has seen in recent years is remarkable and I consider myself lucky to be part of it. Thank you to all past and present community members and staff that have made Edgewater the city that it is today.

I am confident our success will endure and want to thank our newly elected officials for stepping up to serve.

Thanks for considering our neighbors that need it the most during the holidays. I wish you all continued success, happiness, and a bright future for Edgewater.

With heartfelt thanks,

John Beltrone
