From Edgewater Collective:
The beautiful mural on the west side of Providence at 5280 at 25th Avenue and Ames Street in Edgewater is over 26 years old and is in need of repairs and repainting. Let’s raise funds to save this cool mural and start preserving murals in Edgewater!
The original mural, which is a take on the “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” painting by Georges Seurat, was painted by Jeff Lauwers and Matt Bronson back in 1997. Lauwers and Bronson also painted the mural on the side of Lakeview Lounge depicting scenes from Edgewater’s history and a mural that was formerly on the side of what is now Joyride Brewing depicting the history of the Manhattan Beach Resort at Sloan’s Lake.
100% of the funds raised will go to repairing the painting surface on the west side of Providence and paying a muralist to recreate the original mural from 1997. We also hope to get local artists from Jefferson Junior/Senior High School involved in the project.
Thank you for helping us preserve community art in Edgewater!
