Edgewater’s 2025 Election Results

Edgewater re-elected its Mayor and elected a majority of its seven-member city council on Tuesday. Here are the key takeaways from the election:

MAYORAL ELECTION: Incumbent Mayor Steve Conklin won re-election, defeating write-in candidate Cassidy Binder. Conklin received more than 99% of the vote.

COUNCIL ELECTION: Incumbent Hannah Gay Keao received the most votes for the four open city council seats (890). Incumbents Joel Newton (856) and Lilly Steirer (842) were close behind. Mark Stechschulte received 660 votes.

TERMS | Edgewater uses “bloc” voting to elect city council members, each of whom represent the entire city; there are no city council districts. As we explained prior to the election, residents had the opportunity to vote for all four city council candidates. However, because one seat up for re-election was to fill a vacancy on council, the candidate receiving the least number of votes would serve only a two-year term. Gay Keao, Newton, and Steirer will serve four-year terms and Stechschulte will serve a two-year term.

SCHOOL BOARD RESULTS: Edgewater residents also participated in elections to elect three out of five total Jefferson School Board members.

  • Tina Moeinian (41% of the vote) defeated current School Board president Mary Parker (32%) and Gloria ‘Teresa’ Rascon (28%) for the District 5 seat.
  • In district one, Denine Echevarria (64%) defeated Michael Yoccum (36%)
  • In district two, Peter Gibbins (68%) defeated Samuel Myrant (32%)

STATEWIDE BALLOT INITIATIVES: Two statewide initiatives with the intent of making more free school-based meals available to students across the state passed. Proposition LL received 66% support and Proposition MM received 60% support. Learn more via 9 News or the Denver Post.
