Edgewater City Council will meet this Thursday night, May 7 for a Regular Business Meeting and Work Session. The meeting will be at City Hall starting at 7 pm.
Here are a few discussion items of note:
- Discussion of revising the marijuana ordinance. There is currently a temporary moratorium on new marijuana establishments in the City of Edgewater as City Council decides whether the ordinance should be revised. Edgewater currently has six marijuana shops and one of the options on the table is to cap the number at six.
- Discussion of a possible rental unit ordinance. Renter’s Rights ordinances have been discussed in the past and will be brought up again on Thursday night. The City Council is split on this idea and some are worried that this would decrease the number of affordable rental units in Edgewater. Others want to make sure that renters have rights related to safe and habitable units. Here is a discussion of the topic from City Councilman Kris Teegardin from last September along with feedback from residents in the comments section.
