Edgewater Police Report: January 11, 2016

From Edgewater Police Chief John Mackey:

On January 9th, 2016 at about 1030 PM Edgewater Corporal Geerdes was patrolling the 2400 block of Sheridan Blvd. when he observed a male and female in a physical domestic situation. Corporal Geerdes subsequently arrested a 59 year old Arvada male for assault. Great observation and follow through Corporal Geerdes to prevent this woman from further harm!

On January 9, 2016 at about 2:10 AM Edgewater Officers received a report of a white Ford Explorer that was colliding into vehicles in the 2400 block of Ames Street. Edgewater Officer Palmer responded to the area and quickly located a white Ford Explorer a few blocks from the scene. Officer Palmer stopped the run vehicle and noted that it had recent front and side damage. Officer Palmer subsequently arrested a 22 year old Denver male for DUI and Hit & Run. Kudo’s to our Edgewater resident who called this in at 2 AM, and to Officer Palmer for his quick response and excellent follow-up that prevented this DUI driver from causing additional harm to life or property!

On January 9, 2016, Officers responded to the 2700 block of Ingalls Street on a stolen purple Honda. The vehicle had been left locked and unattended the previous evening and noted missing in the morning.

On January 5, 2016 Officers received a report of a shoplifting suspect fighting with security at the Target Store. Officers subsequently assisted security in taking the suspect into custody. Lodged in the Jefferson County Jail for Assault and Shoplifting was a 21 year old Denver male.

Edgewater Officers arrested one DUI over this shortened reporting period.
24 year old female Denver resident.

Edgewater Officers arrested multiple persons for shoplifting this period:
17 year old male Denver resident.
31 year old female Littleton resident.
57 year old male Lakewood resident.

Edgewater Officers performed traffic enforcement during the course of this reporting period and contacted several persons for parking violations, speeding, careless driving, registration violations, suspensions and revocations.

Edgewater Officers additionally responded to calls involving harassment, disturbances, sexual assault, unwanted parties, intoxicated persons, unwanted persons, alarms, runaway youths and failure to clear sidewalks of snow.

Although I very much appreciate the numerous messages regarding law enforcement issues and the City of Edgewater via the Nextdoor site, if you have something urgent I would suggest that you call the communications center directly.
