Today is the final goodbye to one of our historical murals in Edgewater. Joyride Brewing Company has started the demolition process along 25th Avenue to cut out windows and garage doors. This means that the mural telling the story of Sloan’s Lake and Manhattan Beach will soon be replaced with windows and transparent garage doors.
According to its owners, Joyride had to open up that side of their business to abide by Edgewater’s transparency codes.
The loss of this mural is sad for some Edgewater residents while others welcome the change and new look to Edgewater’s main entrance. It is important to note that the owners of Joyride plan to honor the legacy of the mural in some way within the building.
Edgewater has another mural just a block away that tells the history of Edgewater on the north side of the Lakeview Lounge.
