From Edgewater Police Chief John Mackey:
During the early morning hours of November 16, 2015 Edgewater officers located a stolen silver Saturn sedan in the 2500 block of Kendall Street.
On 11/10/2015 at about 2:12 PM Edgewater Officers received a report of a house fire. When Officer Nesbitt arrived on scene he found that the home was fully engulfed in flames. Neighbors were in the street yelling that there might be a woman inside the home as the resident’s vehicle was in the driveway. Officer Nesbitt entered the home in an attempt to locate the woman although he found the interior dark and smoke filled which caused him to crawl along the floor. Officer Nesbitt was quickly overcome with smoke inhalation and he was forced to exit the home. At about 2:23 Wheat Ridge Fire entered the home and subsequently learned that no one was inside the home. Officer Nesbitt was transported to the hospital for treatment, was released and is back on duty.
